John D. Konz

Biography

John D. Konz is an attorney and shareholder whose practice focuses on elder law and business and real estate transactions. A member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and a recognized Super Lawyers Rising Star, John focuses his practice in the areas of contested and uncontested Trust and Estate administration, probate, guardianships, conservatorships, estate planning, and Medicaid long-term care pre-planning and crisis planning. John also advises start-ups and established businesses, assisting in the creation of new businesses, acquisition, and sale of existing businesses, corporate governance, and all manner of transactions, contract drafting, and negotiation.

John takes pride in first understanding each of his client’s unique situations, needs, and desires and thereafter working diligently and meticulously to ensure clients receive the outcomes they desire and deserve. He is a skilled practitioner, recognized as one of the top 2.5% of attorneys throughout Colorado. While a shrewd litigator, John is also adept at devising unique and creative solutions to complex and sometimes seemingly unsolvable legal issues.

Prior to joining the firm, John worked as an attorney in New York City for one of the top-four firms worldwide, advising multinational entities in the International Tax practice. During law school, John worked in commercial litigation and tax controversy firms in New York and spent his summers clerking at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, the Colorado Supreme Court OARC, and Holland & Hart LLP. Moreover, John is proud to have served as a senior editor on the Hofstra Law Review and as a board member of the Hofstra Moot Court Board. John graduated from law school with honors and received a citation for excellence in Commercial Law. Perhaps most notably, John is proud to have first worked for the firm as a paralegal prior to attending law school and returning as an attorney and now shareholder.

Outside of practice, John relishes time in the mountains skiing and camping, golfing, sailing, shooting sporting clays, and otherwise spending quality time with his wife, daughters, friends, and family.
